Vanessa’s Story

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Just two months before my diagnosis, my sister Veronica, was diagnosed with lung cancer. After already losing our beautiful mam to cancer a few years earlier, we suddenly found ourselves going through chemotherapy together and became known as the “Chemo Sisters.”

While going through treatment, fear, grief, and everything cancer brings, I struggled to find the kind of support I truly needed. I wanted a safe space where people affected by cancer could connect privately, one-to-one, with others who genuinely understood their experience,.

That experience inspired me to create Someone Like Me - Your Cancer Community

Someone Like Me helps people connect with others who truly understand, access useful resources on topics like chemotherapy, family life, and returning to work, discover care and support services, and listen to real, raw, honest stories through our podcast.

Built from lived experience, love, and loss, my mission is simple, to make cancer less lonely, together.
